      Dr. Fung Kwok Hay

This is what happened to me after leaving SJC.

I went into the Medical Faculty in HKU, because I did not know what I should study in HK and I had nowhere to go except staying in HK.

After graduation, I was trained as a surgeon under Prof. G B Ong in HKU and Dr. Liu Tak Fan in Kwong Wah Hospital. I acquired the practice of a GP, who migrated to Canada and thus became a GP Surgeon for a number of years.

For the last 10 years I became interested in Geriatrics and Psychiatry, especially in mood disorders. So I took up the course of Post Graduate Diploma in Community Geriatrics in 2000.

Then I was part time Consultant in Family Medicine with the Hospital Authority and trained some young doctors to the specialty of Family Medicine. By mixing with youngsters I became more young at heart. It was one of the trainees that help me to set up my computer in my office and contributed much of my knowledge in computer. So it is never easy to say who is playing the role of the teacher.

Now I am one of the clinical examiners of the Joint Diploma in Geriatrics Examination of Glascow University, UK and HKU. I am also the Honorary Assistant Clinical Professor of HKU in the teaching of the undergraduates.

Apart from meeting you guys again, the greatest happiness given to me this year is that I just become the "Kung Kung" to a lovely baby, Genevieve, who is now 5 months old and living in Sydney. We see each other often via Skype.

My wife is Keely (not Kelly as she is often mistaken the spelling). We have a daughter, Jasmine, who is a solicitor in Sydney and mother of Genevieve, and a son, Jason, who is single and works with the financial sector. We are a happy family.
