Peter Nguyen, left, with friends: Lawrence Gill (second from left).
I had qualified as a barrister and was called to the Bar in England in February 1970. From 1970 to 1974 I was a Crown Counsel (prosecutor) with the then Attorney General's Chambers. From 1974 to 1994 I was in private practice at the Bar, specialising in criminal cases.
I am now a Judge of the High Court in Hong Kong and have been since February 1998. Prior to that, from July 1994 to October 1997 I was the first local Director of Public Prosecutions.
I am due to retire on 30 September this year (2008).
Lawrence Gill, Sandy Madar and Richard Marriott are coming back to HK on that day as I shall be having a retirement cocktail that evening. Hope to see some of you there also.
Peter
